You probably haven’t heard of “Black Dynamite” (we didn’t until today) but the film is a send up of 70’s blaxploitation films like “Shaft,” “Superfly,” or “Foxy Brown.” The trailer even references by name some of them too, but the film that gets visually referenced throughout the trailer alone is “Dolemite.” Made on a low budget, “Dolemite” is a perfect example of a “so bad its good” movie. The film’s unintentional hilarity makes it ripe for parody, which is what ‘Dynamite’ has done to “Dolemite.” The trailer uses the same sort of rhyming scheme used in both the trailer for “Dolemite” and its over the top sequel, “The Human Tornado.” At least one of the phrases from the ‘Dynamite’ trailer is taken verbatim from the “Dolemite” trailer.
Apparently, “Black Dynamite” originally started out as just another viral trailer, because there are two different red band trailers both with portions of the same dialogue but spoken by different actors. Also, in the original trailer, frames are taken directly from the trailers for “Dolemite” and ‘Tornado.’
Due to the recent passing of Rudy Ray Moore, “Dolemite,” it seems in poor taste not to put the word out about the film that influenced the filmmakers so much.
Could it be that the filmmakers don’t want to reveal how easy it was to come up with material? We say this because basically all of the work to make the film look “bad” was done for them in 1975 with “Dolemite.”

New Actual Film Trailer
I don’t really get your complaint. Are spoofs required to list their influences in the trailer? If so, that’s a new one on me. I don’t think the Spaceballs trailer said “Now, this is a spoof of Star Wars” at the start (it’s on YouTube, and it doesn’t), and I suspect the I’m Gonna Get You Sucka trailer didn’t list its predecessors either (also on YouTube, also doesn’t.)
The idea is that you’re just supposed to get it, and given that there are 337,000 Google hits for “Dolemite” I’d say people will make the connection. Also, isn’t that pimp scene (and the movie’s title) straight outa “Willie Dynamite”? And the Pam Grier look, some other movie? I find myself wondering how many influences you think they should have catalogued in the trailer. It’s an odd criticism, if you ask me.
