If you’re a long-time reader of this site, you know that when a major blockbuster is on the verge of being released, a studio will begin to show screenings well in advance to critics. That happened last night with “Birds of Prey.” Even though the reviews are being held for a while, these critics are allowed to provide “social media reactions.” And you know how much we love sharing them with you folks.

Honestly, these are difficult to cover. Not because we don’t respect our fellow critics and colleagues and their opinions. That’s not the case at all because, for the most part, these people all tend to provide nuanced critiques of a film in their fully fleshed out reviews. But in tweet form? It’s always pretty much one of two things. People tend to LOVE LOVE LOVE something or tepidly endorse it. Very rarely does a film come along where the social media reactions are god awful. And for “Birds of Prey,” as with most of the superhero films, the tweet reactions from folks who recently attended a screening are over the moon joyous.
Now, that isn’t to say “Birds of Prey” is a bad film and these people all drank the WB Kool-Aid. The long-winded introduction is meant to provide readers with a bit of a warning to take these reactions for what they are—quick tweets about a film they just saw and haven’t fully processed.
That being said, let’s get to these reactions!

Our own host of The Fourth Wall podcast and overall swell guy, Griffin Schiller, saw the film and tweeted, “#BirdsofPrey is one word: FUN! A frenetic hyper stylized Harley Quinn comic book come to life (it’s her movie). It’s DC’s Deadpool w/ a dash of Tarantino. COULD NOT get enough of McGregor’s Black Mask; hysterical, eccentric, & deliciously pathetic. A rockin’ kick ass good time!”
Of the tweet reactions, the most “critical” of the bunch comes from Angie Han, who said that the film has a bunch to like, but it is “hampered by uneven tone and pacing. The girls at their best together, and they’re not together enough.”
“Birds of Prey” arrives in theaters on February 7. You can see more tweet reactions below.
