‘Bird Box’ Trailer: Sandra Bullock Protects Her Children From Creatures That Thrive On Fear

Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock is not the most prolific talent in Hollywood. Starring in only one other film in the last three years (this summer’s “Ocean’s 8”), it’s a rare treat for film fans to get a new film featuring Bullock. However, somewhat surprisingly, Netflix is about to unleash a new Sandra Bullock film, “Bird Box,” and this time, we find the actress tackling the horror/thriller genre.

In the new trailer for “Bird Box,” we learn more about the plot for this mysterious late-2018 arriving film that seems poised for a bit of an awards run. As far as we can tell, “Bird Box” tells the story of a mother trying to save her family from some mysterious forces that play on your worst fears using your own eyes against you. To combat these creatures, people don blindfolds to prevent the creatures from exploiting their fears. If you’re getting strong “A Quiet Place” vibes, you’re not alone.

However, instead of being written off as the first of many “A Quiet Place”-esque films, the talent involved in “Bird Box” is enough for you to cast your doubts aside. Joining Bullock in the cast are Trevante Rhodes, Sarah Paulson, and John Malkovich. The film is directed by Academy Award winner Susanne Bier, and written by Eric Heisserer, best known for his Academy Award-nominated work on the sci-fi film “Arrival.”

“Bird Box” will hit select theaters and Netflix’s streaming service on December 21.
