HBO suffered a catastrophic blow to its security and intellectual property this past summer: their flagship series “Game Of Thrones,” and two of its most important episodes, were leaked online before the show aired on those oh-so anticipated Sunday nights. Script and plot summaries were also leaked and a hacker demanded $6 million to keep the data secret in extortion emails sent to HBO’s staff according to reports. That hacker was caught—and will be fucked for life once his sentence comes in—but what was lost in the ‘Thrones’ noise was the fact that additional HBO shows had been compromised: “Insecure,” Larry David’s long-awaited return to “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and the first two episodes of Bill Hader’s “Barry” show, set for a 2018 release.

And now, the trailer for Hader’s comedy is finally here. “Barry” centers on an ex-Marine (Hader) who works as a low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he begrudgingly travels to Los Angeles to kill someone and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the L.A. theater scene.
The series co-stars Henry Winkler as Gene Cousineau, an inspiring acting teacher; Stephen Root as Fuches, the man who arranges Barry’s hits; Sarah Goldberg as Sally, an aspiring actress who introduces Berry to LA’s theater scene; Anthony Carrigan as Noho Hank, a Chechen gangster; and Glenn Fleshler as Goran Pazar, also a Chechen gangster. Hader actually directed the show and he and Alec Berg — a “Silicon Valley” executive producer and the inspiration for a “Seinfeld” one-episode gag recognizable to only the most hardcore of fans—both serve as executive producers and co-writers. “Barry” arrives comes to HBO in the Spring of 2018. Watch the latest trailer and let us know if you think Hader’s latest is something you’ll tune into next year.
