Alright, a few new details of the “Notorious” soundtrack have emerged. Yes, the Jay-Z ft. Santogold track (produced by Kanye of course) “Brooklyn (We Go Hard)” has leaked. We know that there will be demos by Biggie Smalls and another new song by Jadakiss and that the album comes out January 6. 13.
Entertainment Weekly checks in and it looks like the rumors that the Notorious B.I.G’s 12-year-old son, Christopher “CJ” Wallace will appear on the album as well. “Notorious” film producer Wayne Barrow told Entertainment Weekly, that several (as opposed to one as it sounded before) unreleased demos will be featured on the record from the early part of Biggie’s career take up the meat of the soundtrack.
We kept everything as is, in its raw form. This is what got him the [recording] deal, plain and simple. His fans have been asking for it for years.” “Notorious” director George Tillman Jr. adds: “That’s what I’m excited for. It’s incredible stuff.”
Apparently “CJ” Wallace will be featured on an “emotional” remix 1995’s “One More Chance” and the soundtrack will also feature a handful of classic Biggie songs. Note EW says the release date of the soundtrack has now moved to a week before release, January 13. The film hits theaters January 16.
Update: The 17-song tracklist revealed via MTV. Bone Thugs N Harmony, Danny Elfman, Faith Evans (naturally) and Jadakiss (as promised) are also on the album. The album has three previously unreleased demos. Jada’s track was evidently originally recorded for his last LP, Last Kiss, and the filmmakers thought it was perfect for inclusion here. The album is indeed a Jan 13 release via Diddy’s BadBoy records.
