This Movie Would Be Better If It Was About Apollo Creed Going To The Moon
So a new poster has dropped for the Timur Bekmambetov -produced found footage space thriller monster thingy “Apollo 18” and it’s pretty hilariously dorky for a film that will probably take itself far more seriously than it should. The poster features an astronaut bootprint alongside a mysterious footprint from a strange creature with the goosebump raising tagline “There’s A Reason We’ve Never Gone Back To The Moon”. Scary! (Not really).
The plot remains under lock and key but Apollo 18 was a moon mission from the early ‘70s that was officially canceled by NASA, but according to urban legend, it actually happened. So you can probably guess where this is headed. The film switched out directors last week with Gonzalo Lopez-Gallego replacing the previously attached Trevor Caewood. We’re not sure what to expect but anytime a film is being rushed into production to meet an arbitrary release date that has been set just over four months away, you know you can expect quality.
The Weinstein Company will go into outer space with “Apollo 18” on March 4, 2011.
the plot is simple. two astronauts named Ben and Nathan spend film each other\’s reactions to an attack of shadow people on the moon (some with footprints the size of their lunar module). meanwhile, one of them starts to suffer from hallucinations brought on by invisible attacks that leave him bleeding a strange black oil. pretty soon, they\’re stuck in the lunar module trying to recount to the cameras what exactly took place out on the surface earlier that caused these strange injuries and of course, what does it all mean?
yes. i\’ve read it. and no, it\’s not any good.
