Got a Tip?

Beyonce, Taylor Swift & Dua Lipa Rule The 2021 Grammy Awards Nominations

As expected, Taylor Swift dominated the 2020 Grammy Awards nominations earning six nods including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. What was slightly unexpected was Dua Lipa tying her in overall Grammy nods, including those categories and landing Record of the Year for “Don’t Start Now.” Surprisingly, despite predictions neither landed the most nominations. That honor went to Beyonce, of course, with nine.

Roddy Rich also earned six nominations while Brittany Howard earned five. Justin Bieber, DaBaby, Billie Eilish and Phoebe Bridges took four. The Weeknd, who had one of the biggest hits of the year with “Blinding Lights” and is a three-time winner, was completely snubbed.

Other surprising omissions included Lady Gaga’s “Chromatica” and Fiona Apples’ “Fetch the Bolt Cutters” in any of the major categories.

One unexpected outcome because of the coronavirus pandemic was Billie Eilish’s “No Time To Die” earning a nod for Song From A Visual Medium nomination before the film it appears in is released. The Bond film is now scheduled to hit theaters on April 2, 2021. The song was originally released on February 13, 2020.

Earlier in the day, the Recording Academy announced that Trevor Noah would host this year’s ceremony.
