Got a Tip?

‘Ballerina’: Keanu Reeves & Ian McShane Reprise Their ‘John Wick’ Roles For Ana De Armas’ Upcoming Spinoff Film

The world of “John Wick” is expected to grow quite a bit in the next couple of years. Not only is “John Wick Chapter 4” coming next year, but it’ll be joined by a new TV series, “The Continental,” as well as the first spinoff film, “Ballerina.” And while it’s unclear how much these spinoffs will actually have to do with Keanu Reeves’ character, at least we do know that Wick will likely show up in at least one of the secondary projects.

According to Variety, Keanu Reeves and Ian McShane are now both set to appear in the upcoming film, “Ballerina.” Obviously, Reeves will play John Wick, the assassin from the previous films, while McShane will reprise his role as Winston, the manager of the Continental hotel. Ana de Armas is set to star in “Ballerina,” as a character who plots her revenge after her family is murdered. The film is currently in production with “Underworld” director, Len Wiseman, on board to helm.

While Lionsgate and the producers behind “Ballerina” aren’t ready to say that Reeves is on board, they did confirm McShane’s involvement.

“We’re thrilled to have Ian McShane joining us for a pivotal role in ‘Ballerina,’” producer Basil Iwanyk said. “He’s been such an integral part of the franchise since the original ‘John Wick.’ It’s been fun to have him on this journey as the ‘Wick’ universe expands.”

While it’s exciting to know that Winston and John Wick are set to appear outside of the main films, especially in the case of the latter, it’s not all that surprising, right? It would almost be strange if Keanu Reeves didn’t show up in “Ballerina.” This whole assassin franchise revolves around Wick and the audience’s love of the character. Plus, it would appear that Reeves continues to have a blast playing in this world.

As mentioned, “Ballerina” is currently in production, but it’s unclear when the film might arrive in theaters. “John Wick 4” has a release date of March 24, 2023, so it wouldn’t be all that crazy to assume “Ballerina” would arrive in late-2023 or early-2024. We’ll just have to wait and see.
