With DC Films‘ “The Batman” gearing up to shoot next spring, we still don’t know many details, except that it will feature Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, and that Ben Affleck has cowritten the script, will direct, and of course will wear the cape and cowl. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s getting friends and strangers ringing him up to see if there any available roles. And then there’s Teresa Palmer (“Lights Out,” “Hacksaw Ridge“), who is putting it right out there in the press.
Chatting with ScreenRant, the actress put her name out there to play Talia al Ghul, a love interest of Batman’s and the daughter of Ra’s al Ghul… even though it’s not certain the character will be appearing in the movie.
“I was going to be her. I think Marion Cotillard played, I don’t know how to pronounce her last name by the way… she played Talia Al Ghul in one of the Batmans, I remember thinking, okay well, obviously she’s going to play Talia Al Ghul, but if there’s ever an opportunity I would absolutely love it. Put it out there. Can you put it out there for me?” she said.
The “one of the Batmans” she’s referring to is, of course, Christopher Nolan‘s “The Dark Knight Rises” and as Palmer says, she was attached to play the character in George Miller‘s famously abandoned “Justice League Mortal.” And clearly she still really wants to play the part. So hey Ben, maybe give her a ring.
Talia al Ghul is not ‘White’, Ms. Palmer.
