Netflix Splitting ‘Arrested Development’ Season 5 Into Two Parts

Well, if you were hoping to binge-watch the entire fifth season of “Arrested Development” on May 29, then you’re out of luck. The Wrap is reporting that Netflix still plans on releasing new “Arrested Development” episodes at the end of the month, but not the entire season.

Sadly, it appears that fans will only get one half of the season in May, consisting of 8 episodes. Then at an unspecified “later date,” Netflix will release the final 8 episodes. There’s no word on whether or not the series will split the season into two completely separate stories, or if we’re literally just getting half of a story on May 29.

This move comes after Mitch Hurwitz went on Twitter to say that he was remixing the controversial season 4 and that season 5 would be released “real soon.” We all assumed he meant the entirety of season 5, but alas that’s not the case.

The remixed episodes of season 4 were released a couple weeks ago to mixed reviews. Many thought the new remixed 22-episode season was better than the original 15 episodes. However, no amount of editing and remixing could fix a subpar plot and the fact that most of the cast had to shoot separately.

No word yet on when the second half of season 5 will premiere on the streaming service.

As this Netflix (semi) original series returns on May 29th, the Bluths are back together, and finally getting the award they think they deserve – for family of the year. A development which will help Lindsay as she begins her campaign for Congress, to become ‘part of the problem’. But whatever happens, Michael will always come back to save the family. Probably.
