When you see a horror film with Guillermo del Toro attached, you know that you’re probably going to be in for a good time at the theater. Even if he’s not directing, del Toro produces some of the most exciting films in the genre, such as the recently released “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark.” And even though he’s not behind the camera, del Toro lends his talents as a producer to the upcoming “Antlers,” and judging by the new teaser, the film looks like it’s going to be pretty damn great, as well.
Directed by Scott Cooper, who is best known for his work on films “Hostiles,” “Black Mass,” and “Crazy Heart,” “Antlers” tells the story of a young boy that is keeping a dark secret about his life. As seen in the really creepy teaser, his harrowing story catches the attention of his school teacher, who then wants to dig a little deeper into the young boy’s life and see what exactly is going on. Now, since this is a horror film, it’s not just a rough home life that has the boy saddened. It appears that there are actual monsters lurking around the corner, and quite possibly his parents are the ones looking to kill.
The horror film stars Keri Russell, Jesse Plemons, JT Corbitt, Graham Greene, Scott Haze, Rory Cochrane, and Amy Madigan. As mentioned, “Antlers” is directed by Cooper and produced by del Toro. The script is written by C. Henry Chaisson & Nick Antosca and Scott Cooper, based on the short story, “The Quiet Boy” by Antosca.
“Antlers” is coming soon, though no official release date has been announced.
Here’s the synopsis:
In ANTLERS, a small-town Oregon teacher (Keri Russell) and her brother (Jesse Plemons), the local sheriff, discover that a young student (Jeremy T. Thomas) is harboring a dangerous secret with frightening consequences.
