Captain America: The Winter Soldier

As if the cast of John Hillcoat‘s “Triple Nine” wasn’t awesome enough with Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Michael Pena, Teresa Palmer and Gal Gadot already on board, it just got even better.

Anthony Mackie, next seen in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (review here), has joined the Matt Cook penned thriller about a group of crooked L.A. police officers who realize they must shoot one of their own in order to get away with planning a major heist. They choose as their victim a rookie and honorable young officer, but what they don’t know is that another cop has infiltrated the gang and is working on a setup. Production starts this summer and we’re just gonna go ahead and put this on our Most Anticipated 2015 list. [Variety]

Benjamin Walker, Pierce Brosnan, Kaya Scodelario and Fan Bingbing will all feature in Sean McNamara‘s (“Soul Surfer,” “Baby Geniuses: Baby Squad Investigators” (!!) ) “The Moon And The Sun.” Based on the novel by Vonda McIntyre, the Focus Features production “follows King Louis XIV, who is determined to protect the future of France by reigning for all eternity. His search for immortality leads him to capture and steal the life force from a mermaid, but soon his 18-year-old illegitimate daughter discovers the mystical creature and strikes up a friendship with her.” Alrighthy, then. A 2015 release date is already planned. [Variety]

Marion Cotillard has joined the voice cast of the animated “Un Monde truqué (A Rigged World).” The first feature filmmakers Christian Desmares and Franck Ekinci, is set in 1941 France and follows “the adventures of a teenage girl, her talking cat, her grandfather and a young scoundrel who go off in search of the teen’s missing parents.” The is expected to ready for release next spring. Lastly, Rhys Ifans will star in “Under Milk Wood,” an adaptation of the Dylan Thomas play that was previously made into a 1972 film starring Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. The production will be filmed in both English and Welsh versions this summer with director Kevin Allen (“The Big Tease,” “Agent Cody Banks 2: Destination London“) at the helm.
