After the success of last year’s wild tennis rivalry comedy “7 Days in Hell,” HBO is re-teaming with the trio that made it happen —star Andy Samberg, writer Murray Miller and director Jake Szymanski— for a mockumentary about doping in cycling. “Tour de Pharmacy” will bring Samberg and Miller’s unique sense of humor to the professional cycling milieu, shining a light on the rampant doping in the sport.
The trio will reprise their gigs here for a second collaboration with HBO, and will be joined by Daveed Diggs, Julia Ormond, Phylicia Rashad, Will Forte, Dolph Lundgren, John Cena, Mike Tyson and Nathan Fielder. Let’s hope audiences don’t sleep on this film, as many missed Samberg’s Lonely Island production “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping,” one of the year’s best comedies this spring.
There’s no word on who else will be featured in the film, but if it’s anything like ‘7 Days,’ audiences can expect quite a few surprises. There’s no details on when it will air either, but presumably it will be shot between Samberg’s duties on the Fox comedy series “Brooklyn Nine Nine.” [Deadline]
