‘Anatomy Of A Scandal’: Netflix Reveals Strong Cast For Upcoming Limited Series From ‘Big Little Lies’ Creator

Fans of British dramas can look forward to the anticipated Netflix series “Anatomy of a Scandal.” Set to shoot this year in London, the new series already boasts a strong cast, according to Deadline. Leads include Michelle Dockery, best known for her work in “Downton Abbey,” Sienna Miller (“The Loudest Voice,” “American Sniper“), and Rupert Friend (“Strange Angel,” “The Death of Stalin“).

The creative force behind the show includes David E. Kelley, creator of the hit show “Big Little Lies,” and Melissa James Gibson, the “House of Cards” showrunner. S.J. Clarkson (“Succession,” “Jessica Jones“) is set to direct the series, which will consist of six hour-long episodes.

This will be an interesting opportunity for Clarkson, who has recently been named for a number of big projects that did not fully materialize. She was hired for ‘Star Trek 4’ before it was abandoned, as well as a ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel that was similarly dropped. And most recently, she has signed on to helm a ‘Spider-Man‘ spinoff film for Sony.

‘Anatomy of a Scandal’ is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Sarah Vaughan. Released in 2017, the book follows the story of British politician James Whitehouse who is accused of sexual assault, throwing his marriage and political career into jeopardy. Doubts, accusations, and outcry follow as the public, and his wife, try to uncover the truth.

Friend will play the politician caught in the midst of this scandalous nightmare, while Miller is set to play his wife, who firmly believes that Whitehouse is innocent. Dockery is cast to play the lead prosecutor, a tough lawyer who is convinced that Whitehouse is guilty.

The upcoming series is set to be filmed in London later this year.
