You had us at “Denis Villeneuve goes sci-fi” and sold our ticket when you put Amy Adams in the lead role. It’s no secret that “Arrival” is one of our most anticipated films of the year. And after last week’s mouth-watering tease, the full course trailer is here.
Based on Ted Chiang’s novella “Story Of Your Life” and co-starring Jeremy Renner, “Arrival” boasts a very simple premise: extra-terrestrials make contact, and the government tracks down a linguist to help them communicate with these newly arrived aliens. I don’t really want to know anything else until I see this one in a theater, and thankfully, the officially synopsis remains informative without giving away too many details:
When mysterious spacecrafts touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – is brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
“Arrival” opens on November 11th, and will screen at Venice and TIFF. Check out the domestic and international trailers below.
Love those posters. Tantalizing. Love that he has such an identifiable aesthetic.
I may be looking forward to this more than Rogue One.
