It’s hard to argue that the late author Anne Rice has had a large impact on the modern image of vampires; instead of dark and creepy castle-dwelling old men, the writer instead helped give popular culture the young sexy vampire with her Lestat de Lioncourt novels for better or worse. A character was played by Tom Cruise in the 1994 feature film “An Interview With The Vampire,” which also featured actors such as Brad Pitt, Christian Slater, Antonio Banderas, and a young Kirsten Dunst.
AMC, who is famously behind “The Walking Dead” franchise, is developing a bunch of new Rice adaptations and is now promoting their “Interview With The Vampire” series based on her 1976 novel at San Diego Comic-Con and just revealed a new trailer.

Their horror series adaptation stars Jacob Anderson (“Game of Thrones”) as Louis de Pointe, Australian actor Sam Reid (“The Newsreader”) as the ionic Lestat, and Eric Bogosian (“Succession”) as Daniel Molloy.

‘Interview With The Vampire’ follows Louis de Pointe’s epic story of love, blood, and the perils of immortality, as told to the journalist Daniel Molloy.
Reid is expected to reprise the Lestat role in multiple projects for AMC as they had secured the rights to all of Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” books, where many see Lestat as a prominent protagonist/antagonist in those stories.
This isn’t the only Rice adaptation heading to AMC as “Lives of The Mayfair Witches” got a series order back in December that will be co-written and showrun by Esta Spalding. If you are unfamiliar with the project, “Mayfair Witches” focuses on an intuitive young neurosurgeon that discovers she is the unlikely heir to a family of witches.
