Where to even begin in the drama between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard? Honestly, since this isn’t TMZ, we’re not going to get into the nitty-gritty of what allegedly went on during their tumultuous marriage. However, since the end of the recent libel case that Depp filed against a tabloid in the UK, there has been some fallout that has not only affected fan sentiment of both actors but their acting careers. And now, Amber Heard is speaking out about a recent social media campaign to get her fired from what might be her biggest role to date.
As mentioned, the most recent drama stems from the end of the libel case, where Johnny Depp was seeking $50 million and lost the lawsuit. However, over the course of that legal battle, pictures, stories, and official depositions were shared that painted a very ugly picture of the relationship that he and Heard shared. And unfortunately for Depp, this resulted in Warner Bros. asking the actor to step down from his role in the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts 3.”
Now, because of this decision by the studio, more than one million fans have signed a petition to get Heard fired off of the forthcoming “Aquaman” sequel. Why? Well, to get to the real issue, there are some people upset that Depp got fired and Heard hasn’t. It’s as simple as that.

Speaking to EW, Heard spoke up about the recent petition and shrugged off the idea that WB will fire her from “Aquaman 2.” In fact, she’s excited to return to the franchise soon to begin filming the sequel.
“I’m super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that ‘Aquaman’ has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we’ll be coming back,” Heard told EW this week. “I’m so excited to film that.”
“Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don’t dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality,” Heard added. “Only the fans actually made ‘Aquaman’ and ‘Aquaman 2’ happen. I’m excited to get started next year.”
It is interesting that Heard mentions 2021 as the start date for “Aquaman 2.” While the studio hasn’t been shy about the sequel being inevitable, there has yet to be an official greenlight, nor has there been any casting announced. So, if there are plans to begin shooting “Aquaman 2” in 2021, we should probably expect to hear some solid news soon enough about the details.

Regardless, it appears that WB has no problem with Heard being in the cast, and the actress isn’t concerned by any sort of fan-made petition. As of now, “Aquaman 2” is scheduled for December 2022, but that’s likely to change, as we’re still seeing scheduling being flipped on its head by the pandemic.
