Got a Tip?

Amanda Seyfried & Jonathan Rhys Meyers Join ‘Albert Nobbs’; Forest Whitaker Finds ‘Little Teasure’ & Uwe Boll’s ‘Darfur’ Hits Theaters This Summer

Amanda Seyfried and Jonathan Rhys Meyers are set to join the previously announced cast of Glenn Close, Orlando Bloom, Michael Gambon and Janet McTeer in “Albert Nobbs.” Close will reprise her role in the film adaptation of the stage play that “is a ‘Gosford Park’-style ‘below stairs’ drama featuring Close as a woman in Nineteenth Century Ireland who disguises herself as a man in order to survive.” Filming takes place in June in Dublin with Rodrigo Garcia (“Things You Can Tell Just by Looking at Her”) directing.

Forest Whitaker is in talks to join “Little Treasure,” a film about a “couple dealing with prejudices, humor, cultural differences and self-discovery while meeting a Shanghai street kid who changes their lives.” Based on a script by Josh Goldstein (“Blossom,” “Sister Sister,” “The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air”) this promises to be firmly in Hallmark card territory. Shooting will take place on location in Shanghai.

The people over at Phase 4 Films have seemingly lost their minds, picking up the North American rights to three Uwe Boll films. The first out of the gate will be “Darfur,” Boll’s attempt at an “issues” drama that is immediately negated by the fact that it stars Billy Zane, Edward Furlong and Kristanna Loken. “The Final Storm” will hit DVD in April while the horror film “Rampage” awaits its (probably direct-to-DVD) fate.

“Princess Ka’iulani” (formerly known as “Barbarian Princess”) the biopic about the titular royalty of Hawaii’s former monarchy will be released by Roadside Pictures on May 14th. The film stars Q’orianka Kilcher, Barry Pepper, Shaun Evans and Will Patton and was directed by Marc Forby. The by-the-numbers trailer is below:
