Amanda Seyfried Joins ‘‘Fathers And Daughters,’ Craig Roberts Visits ’22 Jump Street’ & More

Just a few days after Russell Crowe‘s latest project “Fathers and Daughterswas announced, he now has a co-lead. Amanda Seyfried will reteam with her “Les Misérables” co-star in the time-spanning tale will follow a novelist and widow in the past, who struggles to raise his 5-year-old daughter while he battles mental illness. The movie will also catch up 30 years later with the daughter, now in the present day, as she tries to reconcile with the difficult childhood. Seyfried will play that latter role in the Gabriele Muccino (“The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Seven Pounds“) directed film. Submarine” star Craig Roberts hasn’t yet made a big splash in an American production, but this should help. The Brit actor has joined “22 Jump Street” with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill. Exact plot details on the follow-up are being kept under wraps, though this time, the crime fighting duo are now undercover at college, which is probably all you need to know. Roberts will play Spencer in the Phil Lord and Chris Miller-directed sequel. It hits theaters on June 13, 2014. [THR] 

Speaking of Tatum, he’s just lined up a voice role alongside Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna and Christina Applegate in the animated film “Book of Life.” The Guillermo del Toro-produced movie follows “Manolo, a young man who is torn between fulfilling the expectations of his family and following his heart. Before choosing which path to follow, he embarks on an incredible adventure that spans three fantastical worlds, where he must face his greatest fears.” Gustavo Santaolalla is providing the score, with Cheech Marin, Hector Elizondo, Placido DomingoAna de la RegueraEugenio Derbez, Gabriel IglesiasRicardo (“El Mandril”) Sanchez and Danny Trejo. rounding out the cast. Lastly, the unlikely duo of Blake Lively and Ellen Burstyn will star in “The Age of Adaline.” The former Katherine Heigl/Angela Lansbury project (really) “centers on a young woman born at the turn of 20th century who is rendered ageless after an accident. After years of a solitary life, she meets a man for whom it might be worth losing her immortality.” Lee Toland Krieger (“The Vicious Kind“) will direct. [Variety]
