While audiences seemed cool on the idea of Matt Damon hanging out with a bunch of animals in "We Bought A Zoo" (Vulture has a few pretty good theories on why that happened) they've been missing out a movie that has more heart than you might expect, and keeps the twee factor surprisingly dialed down. And being a Cameron Crowe film, he can't help but curate yet another mostly solid selection of songs, though it's not without a couple of headscratching choices.
The Uncool has dropped the full list of songs that appear in the film, and some very familiar names are among the rost. Crowe continues to root through his vinyl collection from back in the day, picking up tunes from Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and Neil Young, while also showing some soul with tunes from The Upsetters and Otis Rush. But the director also has a big alternative rock heart (for better or worse) and one of the film's most jarring and misguided musical moments comes from the pretty random inclusion of Temple Of The Dog's "Hunger Strike." Oh, the '90s. Rounded out by a handful of new tunes by Jonsi, overall, it isn't a bad selection but not his best by some stretch (but it does serve as a reminder of how good those Wilco & Billy Bragg records were).

i guess no one gives us a reply on this site to our questions.
"We bought a zoo"…The only song I can't find is or it sounds like a blues tune near the beginning of the movie when the inspector first shows up and exits his car.
Any idea what that one was or who the group is?

Excuse me what is the song playing when kids were flying red kites? After Lily asked Kelly to choose between people and animal? thanks.
Where can I find background score which comes at the end of the movie?
Thank you SO much for going through and finding all the music that was played during the movie. I know it must have been a huge task, especially putting links to all the songs below.
Is it just me or has the definition of a "soundtrack" changed meanings? For instance, it used to be that when I bought a soundtrack, I got the various artists singing the songs that were in the forefront or a direct part of the movie, not the background music. There should be a distinction because the latter certainly has its place and sets the movie tone but it shouldn't be sold as the soundtrack. We can't even get the various artists' songs on a CD or I wouldn't be complaining. Or maybe I'm just too set in my ways 😉
Peace!
what's the name of the song when benjamin were staring at dylan's artwork in his school this song is appear when benjamin and dylan were walking together in school's hall.thnks
What was the song when the inspector arrived the first time?
Thank you for taking the time to find all these songs. I enjoyed the music as much as I enjoyed the movie. So happy to see all the artists and songs here.
What song runs in the background when Matt is browsing pictures of his wife in the laptop the second time ? There is a flashback, and there are scenes of his family playing in a field.
The Bon Iver inclusion caught me by surprise when I saw it back in November. I almost jumped out of my seat when I heard it because I fell in love with them over the last several months and had been listening to the band non-stop before (and since). It's probably the best part of the film for me.
I disagree with the Hunger Strike comment. A) I love the song and it just sounds like it belongs in a movie (I don't think it's ever been in one) and B) I'm sure Cameron Crowe just coming off of his Pearl Jam doc revisited it himself and wanted to give it a fresh beginning (much like he did with Elton John's Tiny Dancer). And you can't really criticize the use or placement of the song in the film because every single song save for Don't Come Around Here No More and Hoppipola seemed like they were just randomly thrown in the film. Easily is worst film as far as far as actual music useage goes. But still a great collection of songs.
