20th Century Fox is bringing the intensity with “Alien: Covenant,” the followup to “Prometheus” and the latest chapter in the “Alien” saga. Once again, it looks like very brainy people are going to get in some big trouble.
In ‘Covenant’ Michael Fassbender plays two characters, and a new crew will face countless horrors and probably make some terrible decisions (like having sex in the shower while a creature is loose on your ship?), and we’ll be there watching anyway, hoping we’ll finally get a great “Alien” sequel after waiting decades. Here’s the official synopsis:
Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created, with ALIEN: COVENANT, a new chapter in his groundbreaking ALIEN franchise. The crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world. When they uncover a threat beyond their imagination, they must attempt a harrowing escape.
Also starring Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England, and Benjamin Rigby, “Alien: Covenant” opens on May 19th. Check out both the green and red band versions of the trailer below.
The more they show, the more it looks like a cash grab.
Sexy couples heading off to the wilderness to make babies (and then die, one by one) is the set up for every single slasher film since the original “Friday the 13th”.
This looks worse than bad: it looks superfluous.
