If you’re a fan of recent comic book series that aren’t tied to Marvel and DC superheroes, you’re probably very familiar with the work of Brian K. Vaughan. He’s the co-creator of comics such as “Y: The Last Man” (soon to be an FX series) and “Saga” (which is definitely something that needs to be adapted as a series). And it appears that another one of his comics, “Paper Girls,” is moving ahead quite nicely at Amazon Prime Video, as the series continues to add folks to the cast.

According to THR, Ali Wong is the latest actor to join the growing cast of Amazon’s adaptation of the comic book series, “Paper Girls.” Based on the comics by Brian K. Vaughan and Cliff Chiang, “Paper Girls” tells the story of a group of young girls in 1988 that deliver their small town’s newspapers. But on Halloween night, things go a bit crazy, as some threats from another world invade the town. Without giving too much away in terms of the plot, Wong is set to play the adult version of 12-year-old Erin (played by Riley Lai Nelet). The rest of the young cast includes Camryn Jones, Sofia Rosinsky, and Fina Strazza.

Wong is probably best known for her stand-up comedy. However, in recent years, she’s also branched out into acting, with roles on the ABC sitcom, “American Housewife,” as well as in “Tuca & Bertie” and the Netflix hit rom-com, “Always Be My Maybe.” Just recently, she was announced as a co-star opposite Steven Yeun in a new A24 series, “Beef.”
“Paper Girls” is set to be produced and showrun by Stephany Folsom (“Lord of the Rings,” “Toy Story 4”) and Christopher C. Rogers (“Halt and Catch Fire”). Production on the series is expected to begin later this year, with a likely 2022 debut date on Prime Video.
