Got a Tip?

Alec Baldwin Decides Not To Do ‘Rock Of Ages’

Second only to “Hunger Games” with endless casting announcements, director Adam Shankman hasn’t been able to stay off Twitter or turn down interview requests for “Rock Of Ages,” his big haired ’80s musical movie which seems to have been casting forever. But it looks like he’s lost a cast member instead of adding one.

THR reports that despite confirmations from the director himself, Alec Baldwin has decided to not to star in “Rock Of Ages” after all. The actor was set to play Dennis Dupree, the owner of the Bourbon Room, where much of the action takes place. But, for whatever reason, Baldwin has decided it’s not for him.

His loss won’t be too badly felt as the film already boasts a pretty top notch cast of Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Russell Brand, Paul Giamatti, Malin Akerman, Bryan Cranston, Mary J. Blige, Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta and we’re sure Shankman will be tweeting Baldwin’s replacement soon enough. It is interesting to note, however, this is the second big movie Baldwin has bounced from this year. In March, the actor bailed on “Men In Black 3” citing the delays as an issue. But it’s not as if Baldwin isn’t keeping busy.

This summer he’ll hang with Woody Allen in Rome shooting the director’s next picture; he’s already completed “Hick” with Chloe Moretz and he recently joined the cast of the indie pic “Lucky Them.” So perhaps it’s just tentpole movies that aren’t Baldwin’s bag….
