Got a Tip?

Albert Camus’ Unfinished Novel, ‘First Man,’ To Be Adapted By Gianni Amelio

Italian auteur Gianni Amelio (“Stolen Children”) is shooting a screenplay penned by himself which is derived from an unfinished manuscript by late Algerian-Franco author/ existentialist philosopher/ sometimes nihilist Albert Camus.

Camus, an Algerian born, French residing author who died in a car accident in 1960 left behind “First Man,” which chronicles Algeria’s long struggle for independence from France. The film will mark Amelio’s first attempt at a French-language film.

Jacques Gamblin is set to play the lead-role while Denis Podalydes and Claudia Cardinale are also attached in a supporting capacity. The film is set to start shooting this April.
