Got a Tip?

‘Ahsoka’ Footage Confirms Fan Favorites Hera Syndulla & Chopper Will Be In The Upcoming ‘Star Wars’ Series

The audience at the “Star Wars” Celebration on Saturday got a little surprise before leaving “The Mandalorian” panel. Just as things were wrapping up, Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson) showed up and gave the first look at her new standalone show, “Ahsoka,” coming to Disney+ sometime in 2023.

‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 To Begin Airing On Disney+ In February 2023

As the footage played out, it was confirmed that fan favorites of the “Star Wars: Rebels” animated show, Hera Syndulla, would be making appearances on “Ahsoka.” It is not confirmed yet who will be portraying Hera on the show. Chopper, who was revealed on stage, will be voiced yet by the show’s executive producer Dave Filoni, who originally created the character. The short footage also showed our first look of Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) looking at the mural she painted in ‘Rebels’ staring gracefully at the Ghost crew and teasing the character Ezra Bridger.

At the end of the footage, the panel for the show included a practical Chopper droid rolling out on stage, delighting devoted fans in the audience. From what we can gather, Filoni, alongside his Star Wars collaborator, director Jon Favreau, seems to be laying all the pieces down of taking what worked for him and the fans in the animated series and updating it to a live-action form within this series. Dawson, who’s garnered a lot of acclaim from “Star Wars” fans for her portrayal of Ahsoka, first appeared in the second season of “The Mandalorian” and later returned in the first season of “The Book of Boba Fett.”

This presentation came on the heels of two developments for season three of “The Mandalorian,” which Filoni and Favreau announced. Directors Rick Famiyuwa and Bryce Dallas Howard would be returning behind the camera for new episodes of the beloved series. The Mando+ panel also debuted the first trailer for the new season, featuring plenty of action and Baby Yoda. The show should also return sometime in the Spring of 2023.
