Ahmed Best Debunks Rumors that Jar Jar Is In ‘Obi-Wan’ Series, Says Kids Are “Left Out” Of The Franchise

A wise person once said “if everything else fails, have them argue about ‘Star Wars’” and if they didn’t say it, they should have. While we’re all stuck at home without much new content to get by, we have to settle on arguing about existing content, meaning lots of discussions about the Snyder Cut and “Star Wars.” While we wait for updates on “The Mandalorian” and other “Star Wars” projects, rumors will start circulating. One of these involved none other than Jar Jar Binks making an appearance in the upcoming “Obi-Wan” show, but the original actor, Ahmed Best, debunked those rumors.

In an interview with Jamie Stangroom, Best talked about returning to the franchise in the upcoming “Star Wars” game show “Jedi Temple Challenge” and addressed rumors that we would see his character any time soon. “Not as far as I know, no. I haven’t been asked,” Best said. “I just don’t know, to be completely honest I think Jar Jar is something Lucasfilm are trying to move away from, I’m not going to hold my breath for a Jar Jar cameo in ‘Obi-Wan’ but you know, who knows.”

While his character remains one of the most polarizing elements of the “Star Wars” prequels, Best said the franchise has forgotten why Jar Jar was introduced in the first place – because of the children. “There isn’t very much for the kids anymore in ‘Star Wars,’” Best continued. “It’s very much for the millennials and gen-Xers like myself, so kids are kind of left out of these, and the kids have to go to the animated series in order to get their dose of ‘Star Wars’. Best explained that skewing towards kids was very much key to George Lucas’s plan. “George was always about the kids, and he used to say that if you get the kids, you have fans for the next 20 years,” Best argued. “He was very much about kids. This idea that the movies are for adults is a very new thing, to be honest.
