It’s been over a decade since director Christine Jeffs has released a film. Her last work, “Sunshine Cleaning,” which debuted at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival to pretty positive reviews. That film saw early work from two of the biggest actresses working today, Emily Blunt and Amy Adams. Well, now, more than a decade later, Jeffs is working on a new film, “Every Breath You Take,” and she’s found herself another strong cast.
According to Deadline, Casey Affleck, Michelle Monaghan, and Sam Claflin have joined the upcoming drama, “Every Breath You Take.” The film is directed by Jeffs and tells the story of a psychiatrist (Affleck) that finds his life thrown into chaos when a patient commits suicide. He invites the patient’s brother into his home to meet his wife and everything soon falls apart. Veronica Ferres also joins the cast.
Interestingly, ‘Every Breath’ isn’t a film that is new, as the project has been in development since back in 2012 when Rob Reiner was attached to direct with Harrison Ford and Zac Efron aboard in the cast. Obviously, in the interim seven years, that has completely changed, and if we’re being honest, Jeffs, Affleck, Monaghan, and Claflin is a much more interesting proposition.
Affleck has been pretty busy, as of late, with films like “The Old Man & the Gun,” “The Friend,” and “Light of My Life” being released over the last two years. The latter of which he also wrote and directed. His next film is “The World to Come.”
Monaghan recently signed on to star in “The Craft” and has a number of projects on the horizon, including the TV series “Messiah,” as well as the films “The Price of Admission” and “Spinning Gold.” Claflin is probably best known for his work in “The Hunger Games” franchise, but has recently been seen in films like “Adrift,” “The Nightingale,” and the upcoming “Charlie’s Angels.”
No release date for “Every Breath You Take” has been announced, but production is expected to begin next month.
