After her luminous performance in “Blue Is The Warmest Color,” we’re a bit surprised Hollywood isn’t breaking down the door of Adèle Exarchapoulos, but it seems Sean Penn knows talent when he sees it. It would seem he’s gearing up a new movie to direct this summer—it’s certainly the first we’re hearing about it—and Exarchapoulos not only reveals that she has a role in it, she spilled a few details on what it’s all about (apologies in advance for wobbly Google Translate).
“I have a small role in the film by Sean Penn this summer,” she said. “This is about human encounters in the refugee camps in Sudan, Liberia…”
Sounds like a project that would be close to Penn’s humanitarian interests, and if things really are locking in to shoot this summer, we’d wager more official type details are on their way, so we’ll keep an eye out and ear open. [Allocine]
In other news, Benedict Cumberbatch will be taking the role of Richard III for BBC2‘s ongoing series of “Shakespeare’s History” presentations. Dominic Cooke (“The Hollow Crown“) directs, and Cumberbatch seems pretty stoked about it. “I can’t wait to work with Dominic Cooke again to bring this complex, funny and dangerous character to life for the BBC and Neal Street Productions‘s peerless series of Shakespeare’s history plays,” he said. [The Guardian]
Lastly, Noomi Rapace has lined up another thriller, signing up to star in “Unlocked.” Mikael Hafstrom (“Derailed,” “Escape Plan“) will direct the Peter O’Brien-penned script about “a female CIA interrogator duped into getting a terrorist to provide key information to the wrong side. It puts her at the center of a plot to launch a biological attack in London.” [Deadline]
He hit that, I guarantee it.
@Rob Yes it is when it's taking work away from those who need the work, untrained people.
what are the chances Sean's "model" daughter will be handed a small role too? Because she is SO talented and not because of her dad is……
