Given that these days, Adam Sandler movies are generally vehicles by which he can get a paid vacation somewhere fun, where he can hang with his buddies ("Just Go With It," two "Grown Ups" movies), it looks like the actor is ready for some wide open spaces and saddle sores.
The funnyman's next comedy will be a western comedy — yee-haw — titled "Ridiculous 6" but it won't be at his usual home at Sony. Apparently going through finanicial upheaval, the studio is getting more picky about what they can take on (and finding financing partners for the rest) and thus the untitled movie will be handled by Paramount. And while Sandler is making the studio a mint at the moment leading the voice cast of "Hotel Transylvania," his most recent live-action outing "That's My Boy" tanked while "Jack & Jill" also underperformed. However, he is still considered a "valuable asset" at Sony and the studio is handling "Grown Ups 2" which will undoubtedly be a hit, so he'll be back on the lot before long.
No details on who's directing the western (like it matters) or who will co-star (you can probably guess), but Sandler is going to make it his next picture after the sequel. He's co-writing it with his frequent collaborator Tim Herlihy and it already has a spring break 2014 release date being eyed. So get ready, because nothing says funny like Sandler on a horse. Go Mr.Adam Sandler. Go whip that horse. Yee-haw!
Just please don't disgrace Blazing Saddles. I'm a Sandler fan, not of late, but please don't disgrace Saddles. I thought that football one with Will Ferrell was supposed to happen? I guess he's too busy with Anchorman 2 then
