The recent Adam Sandler film, “Hubie Halloween,” seems to mark the return to silly comedy for the actor after wowing audiences with his role in the drama, “Uncut Gems,” but that doesn’t mean he’s done with drama just yet. Apparently, Sandler already has his next prestige drama project lined up with the upcoming space feature, “The Spaceman of Bohemia.”

According to Deadline, Sandler is signed on to star in the upcoming Netflix film, “The Spaceman of Bohemia,” based on the novel of the same name by Jaroslav Kalfar. The film tells the story of an astronaut (Sandler) that is sent to deep space to collect ancient dust. However, as he’s on his mission, the astronaut’s life on Earth begins to fall apart, and he can only rely on the help of a mysterious ancient being in the shadows of his ship to help him figure it all out.
“The Spaceman of Bohemia” is the next project for director Johan Renck, who is probably best known for his work as the helmer of the Emmy-winning series “Chernobyl.” He’s also worked on episodes of series such as “Bloodline,” “Breaking Bad,” and “Vikings.” The script is written by Colby Day.
“As we prepare for our voyage to Chopra, I couldn’t be more pleased to have found the perfect partner in Adam,” Renck said. “And now, with the support of the brilliant Netflix family, I am profoundly excited to set off on our impossible journey.”
Even though Sandler already has his next drama lined up, the actor is far from done with comedy. In addition to “Hubie Halloween,” he’s already filming his next Netflix comedy film, “Hustle,” which is likely going to appear sometime in 2021. It’s unclear when they might begin filming “The Spaceman of Bohemia.”
