Got a Tip?

‘Ad Vitam’ Trailer: “Raw” Breakout Star Garance Marillier Stars In New Sci-Fi Series Debuting At TIFF

What happens when people find a way to reverse the slow degeneration of aging? What happens when suddenly you can live past 100-years-old, past 150-years-old, or maybe forever? That’s the premise behind the upcoming series “Ad Vitam,” which has its premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.

As we see in the first trailer, what ends up happening when the threat of old age and death is no longer a concern is that young people decide to take fate into their own hands and commit suicide. But is that okay? Should it be stopped? And does the world need children anyway? These are the questions at the center of the French series, which has an incredible cast, led by French star Yvan Attal and up-and-comer Garance Marillier, who wowed audiences with her performance in “Raw.”

“Ad Vitam” comes from writer-director Thomas Cailley, who is best known for his work on the film “Love at First Fight,” which was a massive hit in 2014 at the Cannes Film Festival and went on to be nominated for numerous César Awards. Cailley, who helms each episode, also co-wrote the series with collaborator Sébastien Mounier. The duo worked together on the 2016 miniseries “Trepalium.”

As mentioned above, the sci-fi/thriller series has its international premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival. However, a global release is still not known at this time. That being said, can you think of a better series for a studio like Netflix to pick up? *Hint, Hint* Come on, Netflix, you know you want to!
