Got a Tip?

Aaron Sorkin Says He’s Taking Meetings With Both Marvel & DC

Fight, fight, fight, fight! There is no fanboy battle more tiresome than the continual battle between devotees of DC Films and Marvel, with both sides unable to realize their blind fidelity to a brand is a bit silly. However, Aaron Sorkin is going to step right in the middle of the battlefield.

Today at CinemaCon, the screenwriter behind “The Social Network” and “The West Wing,” and the writer/director of the upcoming “Molly’s Game,” revealed he’s considering some kind of gig with major superhero players in Hollywood.

“I happen to have meetings coming up with both DC and Marvel,” he told Comic Book. “I have to go into these meetings and tell them as respectfully as I can that I’ve never read a comic book. It’s not that I don’t like them. It’s just that I’ve never been exposed to one. So, I’m hoping that somewhere in their library is a comic book character that I’m gonna love and I’m gonna wanna go back and start reading from the first issue on.”

Well, taking a broad view of Sorkin’s work, he’d probably prefer a character with a strong moral code, and one who talks a lot. But man, we’d kill just for Sorkin to do dialogue punch-ups for either side, to bring some flavor to what is usually some pretty wooden material. So, we’ll dream of a Sorkin penned comic-book movie, though it’ll be interesting if he’ll want to work in what is often a very hermetic world. Thoughts? Let us know below.
