In the grand spirit of unnecessary resurrections of past-their-prime franchises, a fifth “Die Hard” film is on the way as filming on “A Good Day to Die Hard” has been rolling for a little while now. “Spartacus” actor Jai Courtney won the coveted role of John McClane’s (Bruce Willis) son, and casting has continued to add Cole Hauser, "The Lives Of Others" star Sebastian Koch and Russian model/actress Yulia Snigir as villains.
Well it looks as if “Behind Enemy Lines” and “Max Payne” director John Moore (ugh) is ripping a page out of Michael Bay’s book of all things that are loud, fast, and sleek by casting Victoria’s Secret and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Anne Vyalitsyna in her first acting role for the film. The Skip Woods ("X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "The A-Team") penned film is set in Russia with the aging John McClane teaming up with his son to save the world. Should we expect more “Big brother is watching”-style plots in the vein of “Live Free or Die Hard” or is Moore and company taking the boys abroad to watch McClane take on the Europeans all over again? Word on the actual plot seems nil at the moment, but apparently McClane and son will be "the most wanted men in the entire Soviet Union, and it’s the two of them against all of the bad guys." Uh, former Soviet Union. Knowing the franchise, as long as McClane is blowing things up audiences will be happy.
While there’s no word as to whether Vyalitsyna will be a baddie or a love interest, we’ll find out once “A Good Die to Die Hard” lands in theater on Valentine’s Day 2013. Yippie kay-yay (we guess). [Variety]
