First Look At Roman Polanski’s Cannes Contender ‘Venus In Fur’ With Emmanuelle Seigner & Mathieu Amalric

nullIt’s always a weird time in the lead up to the Cannes Film Festival, with arthouse news clashing with the latest intel from the summer blockbuster slate. So, keeping that in mind, we’re taking a quick break to give you the first look at Roman Polanski‘s “Venus In Fur.”

The latest from the legendary filmmaker is up for the Palme d’Or, and it boasts a pretty simple but compelling concept. Based on the Broadway play by David Ives, who co-wrote the script with the director, the story takes place in the theater world, and centers on the writer/director of a new play who is immersed in the process of finding an actress for a role in his upcoming work. A new talent comes in at the last minute and is seemingly the opposite of everything he’s looking for….

Polanski’s better half, Emmanuelle Seigner stars in the flick alongside Mathieu Amalric, in what sounds like a film that could be a powderkeg of acting. No distribution yet, but should the movie heat up the Croisette, that will likely change.

  1. I think it would bear mentioning from some news outlet, that both the play and movie are based on a 19th Century Novel, the author of which lends his name to Masochism

  2. Some-what old news – this movie-still was floating around 2 days ago on the imdb boards. Thanks for the post though, spreading the Polanski/Venus in Fur love…. dig it.
