Got a Tip?

‘X-Men: First Class’ Gets Yet Another Mutant, Alex Gonzalez To Play Riptide

Geez, is there any mutant that won’t be in “X-Men: First Class”?

Following reports that surfaced a few days ago about Spanish actor Alex Gonzalez (“Milk”) joining the film as an unknown mutant called Tornado, reports have been clarified and it now looks like he will be playing Riptide.

In the Marvel world, Riptide, aka Janos Questad, is a villain who can spin at superhuman speeds, generating shruiken’s thanks to an instantly crystalizing substance that his skin secrets. He was part of a team of evil mutants working under the employ of Mr. Sinister. With casting coming this late in the game, we doubt the screen time will be substantive but it looks like Marvel is cramming as many characters as possible into this thing.

Filming kicked off on August 31st in the UK with Gonzalez joining the extensive cast of James McAvoy, January Jones, Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Michael Fassbender, Caleb Landry, Nicholas Hoult, Lucas Till, Jennifer Lawrence, Edi Gathegi, Jason Flemyng, Rose Byrne, Zoe Kravitz, Bill Milner, Morgan Lily and Laurence Belcher.

“X-Men: First Class” is directed by Matthew Vaughn and will hit theaters on June 3, 2011. [ScreenRant via Fotogramas]

  1. Honestly this film has yet to reach the same about of characters as X1. There's about 14 characters in First Class… there was about 17 in X1. 25 in X2. 16 in The Dark Knight. 15 in Iron Man 2.

Yet for some reason people feel like this film has a lot of characters. I don't see it.
