This summer, an awful lot is riding on Warner Bros‘ “Man Of Steel,” with the studio pinning their hopes for a Marvel-style cinematic universe on Zack Snyder’s “Man Of Steel” reboot. Following the same blueprint they used for Christopher Nolan’s “Dark Knight” films, the studio is ramped up their viral marketing campaign yesterday to deliver a new Zod-centric trailer that opens with a pretty creepy message directly from the Kryptonian psychopath himself.
It seems that Zod is playing out of the same playbook used by Bane and the Joker: giving an ultimatum to our hero over TV airwaves with a promise for more bloodshed if their demands aren’t met. The major difference seems to be the sheer scale of destruction on display in the new clips, which downplays the elegaic side of early trailers, and plays up the badass action, which only makes sense given that we’re dealing with aliens from another world with superhuman powers. It’s still to soon to tell but we can’t help but wonder whether Snyder and co. will give us our first real memorable villain of the year with Michael Shannon‘s Zod. Fortunately, we don’t have long to find out, “Man Of Steel” flies into theaters on June 14th. Check out the trailer below. [Superhero Hype]
um, ocean of stars? wut?
I believe the rapid shots were just to make the trailer seem more hard hitting and viral-ish. I liked it, nice to see some new set pieces from what appears to be a very well designed superhero movie.
I have really been looking forward to this but the shot length in this trailer concerns me. I hope it was just for the purpose of the trailer, but it was difficult to focus on any single element and grasp a sense of space because it moved so quickly. Still, I have loved everything else I have seen of this.
