Zombies! It seems Hollywood can’t get enough, nor can audiences. They gave Brad Pitt hell in “World War Z,” found love in “Warm Bodies,” all while AMC is racking up the ratings with “The Walking Dead.” It seems the undead have never been more alive (ha), so what better way to honor the creatures George A. Romero first brought to the big screen than to crank out a cheapo remake of one of his films to get it in theaters next year.
Well, that’s just what Millennium Films and Campbell Grobman Films — the latter responsible for “Texas Chainsaw 3D” — have decided to reboot/remake/whatever the 1985 flick, “Day Of The Dead.” Why? Who knows, but probably because it’s only going to cost them $10-20 million dollars, and we’d guess they’ll do it in 3D too. Basically, we think they are going to do the same thing they did with ‘Chainsaw’ and stack the cast with a bunch of nubile young things you’ve never heard of, shoot it in some location where the tax rebates are good, and then laugh all the way the bank (the crappy ‘Chainsaw’ took $34 million home on a nothing budget, thanks America!).
And if you think we’re being cynical, just bear in mind a couple of things: 1) producers are already planning to get this into theaters next year and 2) this is coming only five years after the 2008 “Day Of The Dead” remake you forgot about, starring Mena Suvari and Nick Cannon (lol). Anyway, remember better times by watching the original below. [Variety]
my favorite movie. all these remakes do is make the original look better. and better
