Watch: Stupidly Awesome Trailer For Jean-Claude Van Damme’s ‘Enemies Closer’

Enemies Closer Jean Claude Van Damme Tom Everett ScottThere are two things that can be said about the trailer for Jean-Claude Van Damme’s “Enemies Closer.”  First of all, his hair is absolutely fabulous, somehow managing to perfectly capture the essence of his smug-crazy-drug dealer character.  Secondly, it has Orlando Jones and that’s notable for the fact that we haven’t seen Orlando Jones in years. (Those 7-Up commercials used to light up our lives, it’s a shame he hasn’t been as prolific as we thought he’d be.) But don’t take our word for it, journey down below to check out the incredible trailer for “Enemies Closer,” and before you do, here’s the synopsis:

After a major shipment of drugs goes missing on the US-Canadian border, forest ranger and former Navy SEAL Henry is plunged into survival mode when the drug cartel forces him to help retrieve the downed package.  Trapped in the wilderness with no communication to the outside world, Henry finds himself face to face with Clay, a man with a personal vendetta against Henry who has returned for retribution.  Now, the two mortal enemies must make a choice: put aside their past and work together, or die alone at the hands of the drug runners, a ruthless gang who will stop at nothing to retrieve their lost cargo.

With a name like “Enemies Closer,” it’s pretty obvious that this isn’t going to be high-art. However, it looks stupidly fun and Van Damme is just devouring the scenery in every shot he’s in in the trailer. And maybe that’s due to director Peter Hyams, as it marks his fourth collaboration with JCVD after “Timecop,” “Sudden Death” and “Universal Soldier: Regeneration.” While this film isn’t going to turn heads for its acting, at least it looks like the main stars are more than capable of turning heads with their bare hands.

Co-starring Tom Everett Scott and Jean-Claude Van Damme’s hair, no release date has been set. Watch below. [Quiet Earth]

  1. UNIVERSAL SOLDIER: REGENERATION was a surprisingly good actioneer, impressive what John Hyams did with a DTV budget and a non-shakey camera capturing the action. I actually would recommend it to people in general and not just to action fans.

I hear his sequel is insane.

  2. Dear Jason McDonald,
Universal Soldier Regeneration is directed by John Hyams not Peter Hyams! So, Enemies Closer is the 3rd movie of Jean-Claude Van Damme with Peter Hyams.
    Regards!

Do we got to do this shit every time, bring up how it isn't art, we're not watching it for the acting, it's "dumb fun," "jeeze this looks interesting but woah hold I don't like it too much don't take it wrong I like you but not like you like you etc."

Jesus christ I've seen an action movie before okay. I was comfortable watching bloodsport when I was 10 and it's weird having to always read shitty film snob blog writing try to dance around admitting liking them. I guess it's better then Jagernauth's just straight up ignorance of the genre.
