Watch: Go Behind-The-Scenes Of Terry Gilliam’s ‘The Zero Theorem’ With New Featurette

The Zero Theorem

“It’s impossible to predict,” Terry Gilliam told us last August on the eve of the world premiere of “The Zero Theorem” at the Venice Film Festival. “Fewer people have seen ‘Zero Theorem’ during the making of it and the editing of it than any film I’ve done. The basis of any predictions is not solid. Harry Knowles, he said it was the best thing I’ve done since ‘Brazil‘ and watched it three times in a row. That kind of excitement and enthusiasm about a film is what I love and it doesn’t mean it’ll find a monstrously huge audience, but there’s enough of an audience for it. I just keep clinging to the fact that ‘The Wizard of Oz‘ and ‘Singin’ in the Rain‘ weren’t big hits when they came out.”

Basically, good films don’t necessarily find an audience, and Terry Gilliam is just happy to have got the thing done the way he wanted. And regardless of who shows up, “The Zero Theorem” is on its way to theaters and today you get a little peek behind the curtain. A two minute featurette has dropped for the film, offering up footage and discussion of the various inspirations for the sci-fi tale of one man’s quest to try and solve an impossible equation about the meaning of existence. Heady stuff, but played for fun by a cast that includes Christoph Waltz, David Thewlis, Melanie Thierry, Ben Whishaw, Tilda Swinton and Matt Damon.

Check out our review and watch below. Still no exact word on a U.S. release date (or distributor) but “The Zero Theorem” opens in the U.K. on May 14th.
