Got a Tip?

Jack Black Takes ‘The D-Train,’ Chloe Sevigny Feels ‘#Horror’ And John Turturro & Vanessa Paradis Say ‘Rio, I Love You’

Nachrichten aus Berlin! That’s “news from Berlin” to you English. But although it’s from Berlin, it’s about Rio de Janeiro, which is confusing. But yes, news has arrived that John Turturro and Vanessa Paradis (who paired up in his upcoming directorial effort “Fading Gigolo“) have signed on for a segment in the forthcoming “Rio, Eu Te Amo” — and if you don’t speak Portuguese, you can work it out from the previous films in the series of city-focused anthologies, “Paris, je t’aime” and “New York, I Love You,” the first of which was a surprise success back in 2006.

In the works for a few years now, Turturro will direct Paradis in a segment for the Rio installment, with other stars recruited for the feature including Harvey Keitel, Emily Mortimer, Vincent Cassel, Jason Isaacs, Wagner Moura, and Rodrigo Santoro. Directors include Fernando Meirelles, Jose Padilha, Paolo Sorrentino, Guillermo Arriaga, and Nadine Labaki, with the production underway, and some of the ten segments already completed. [Variety]

Also coming out of Berlin is news of the latest project for Jack Black and his partner in crime on “Nacho Libre” and “School of Rock,” Mike White. Black and White are to star in “The D-Train,” with Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel, the writers of 2008 Jim Carrey vehicle “Yes Man,” writing and directing. James Marsden will also appear, as a washed-up actor from the same high school as Black: Black tries to get him to appear at their class reunion as part of an attempt to get popular in high school long after he’s actually left. Lastly, we hear news of a film coming out of Berlin entitled, we kid you not, “#Horror.” No, really. It’s not even a horror film, but rather a “scandalous noir.” It will star Chloe Sevigny, Timothy Hutton, Natasha Lyonne, and Taryn Manning and will be the directorial debut of one Tara Subkoff. #Sigh.
