Bret Easton Ellis & Rob Zombie Team For Manson Family Murders TV Series

On Aug. 8th and 9th, 1969, America was rocked out of the summer of love when the followers of Charles Manson, across two days, committed a series of gruesome, shocking murders (which included the killing of Roman Polanski‘s wife Sharon Tate). The details are disturbing to this day, and now, the nuanced hands of Bret Easton Ellis and Rob Zombie are going to bring it to life.

The “American Psycho” writer and “The Devil’s Rejects“/”House Of 1000 Corpses” director are teaming on a limited series for Fox that will dive into the people and events, before and after the slayings, with connected storylines and characters, told from different points-of-view. However, Variety cautions that the series is a long way off from receiving a greenlight, though Alcon Entertainment are developing it. And Zombie is eager to dive in, calling the tale one of “epic madness.”

So: Ellis + Zombie + Manson….what could go wrong?

  1. If the show is going to be on the Fox network instead of the FX network, it may end up being very tame since the FCC regulations won't allow them to be explicit in subject matter.
