Seth Rogen is winning mad points with the Wu Abbot.
The de facto leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA, expressed how he was extremely impressed with Rogen in a recent interview with MTV.com. While both were shooting scenes on the set of Judd Apatow’s “Funny People,” RZA was surprised by his co-stars ability to deviate from the script and “freestyle” his way through scenes.
“Those dudes is funny, man. They do go off the script. They’re comedians. While we’re doing the film, it’s like Seth Rogen could be an MC. He freestyles his jokes.” RZA went on to explain why Rogen’s improv ability was so praise-worthy, “He’ll change it, then change it, then change it. He’s so witty. Those guys are not accidental talents; they are the truth.”
It wasn’t just Rogen’s talent as a wordsmith that impressed RZA, it was also his knowledge of the Staten Island rappers cannon of music. “Seth knew the lyrics to Bobby Digital’s ‘Holocaust,’ ” a surprised RZA revealed. “He was like, ‘What happened to that kid who said, “Back-smack you so hard all your seeds will be born deformed”?’ Do we smell a guest rap cameo?
Apatow’s “Funny People,” which chronicles a dying comedian, played by Adam Sandler, as he reflects back on his life, is due out next summer.
