Check out this godawful abortion snippet of goth rockers My Chemical Romance covering Bob Dylan’s rambling classic, “Desolation Row.” And this is supposed to play in the credits of “Watchmen”?!? Did Zack Snyder get this movie confused with “I Know What You Did Last Summer”? Christ! God, can you even imagine what kind of tone this is supposed to set after the “Watchmen” movie ends (rather bleakly) and our heroes know that humanity just dodged a bullet? Oh hell, they’ll just pump their fists in the air and rock out to My Chems! Just brutal.
In a recent interview, MCR’s Gerard Way said that “Watchmen” helped shape his life at a young age. “It is the one thing I can pinpoint that shaped my views and aesthetics.” Pretty sad considering the execution of this song totally misses the entire point. Who signed off on this fucking terrible idea? We’ve tried to keep in in check, but the gloves are off now.
hahaha!
In a wierd way the whole scenario reminds me of this scene

Ha ha, great scene.
As much as I thought Gerard Way's comic was okay, I'm sick of him (and EVERY other emo guy) defending their tats or their look, et al. based on whatever the hell they grew up watching or reading. It's such a sad case of having to be an arbiter of mid-brow culture just because you're a rock star and think that you're owed that privilege.
Nearly everyone that listens to that band grew up reading and watching the same stuff – who cares & please shut up.
God, I think my ears are now bleeding…
Eww. I love a good Bob Dylan cover, but that was ridiculous. If you didn’t tell me that was “Desolation Row,” it probably would have taken me longer to figure out than I have patience to listen.
lame…. Jeff Buckley’s cover of ‘Mama You Been On My Mind’ is the shit.
I just had to take my mind off that turd.
that ghost world clip sums this up perfectly.
As a very big Dylan fan, and one who actually likes hearing the multitude of covers of there, this is definitely one of the worst.
Dylan makes an appearance as “God” in Gerard Way’s comic, The Umbrella Academy:

And of course, he greatly influences the thoughtful and nuanced work of my chem. Especially their poetic lyrics.
