Even indiscriminate halfwit nerds could tell you that the “Fantastic Four” film franchise directed by Tim Story was terrible (Ok, most of them anyhow, there’s always an apologist somewhere, Harry Knowles?). The cast was subpar (Jessica Alba and Ioan Gruffudd in particular) and the jokes were painfully corny and unfunny. The special effects weren’t amazing either.
But Hollywood’s motto with comic book franchise is: if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again, the conventional wisdom being there is a ton of money to be made somewhere.
So with that in mind, apparently 20th Century Fox wants to reboot the failed “Fantastic Four” McFranchise. Apparently this one will be, “less bubble gum.” Congratulations? Best of luck with that one especially considering the silly powers of Reed Richards and the never-will-look-good on film appearance of The Thing. Where there’s a will and a dollar, there’s apparently a way. [IESB]
Exactly – Marvel has a leg up on DC in the fact that if they wanted to, the majority of their recent output could easily become successful, big-time crossover action movie stuff, much like they did with Iron Man.
Fresh starts, Marvel – quit with the do-overs.
But Gabe, DARKER FANTASTIC FOUR! DARKER! LESS LIGHT! LESS LIGHT!
