Get it while it’s hot, but be forewarned, this Christopher Nolan-directed teaser trailer for his new movie “Inception,” really underwhelms in this small context. You’re much better off seeing it play before selected prints of “Inglourious Basterds” this weekend or waiting for the proper version to debut online this Monday at 9am on Yahoo. But if you can’t wait to catch a glimpse, here it is in all its bootlegged, barely watchable glory.
Looks like that alleged tagline, “Your mind is the scene of a crime,” is correct. It does appear that Hans Zimmer, who composed the score here, is using the dark, ominous and, most importantly, atonal sound he started developing on “The Dark Knight,” which is exciting, because that score was quite experimental and grand (especially for such a mainstream film).
*Update*: the new full-version is out and it reveals new clues. First off the man fighting Leonardo DiCaprio in the “Matrix”-style fight is definitely Joseph Gordon-Levitt so we can assume that makes him a villain? Is it Leo he’s fighting? It’s hard to tell. And the man dragged away from the plane as DiCaprio’s character looks on, appears to be Cillian Murphy Lukas Haas.
Something odd. Note this screen-cap with Gordon-Levitt and this one too. He’s clearly fighting a black man, but when you cut to other clips of them fighting, it’s clearly two white men. What’s up with that? Another clue of what happens within the film possibly? Strange to think considering so far there are no major African-American actors in the film that we know of.
Also, if it wasn’t apparent before, Tom Berenger has a role in the picture too. Maybe Nolan will be a Tarantino for the actor and rescue him from the B-movie world he’s been stuck in for ages. According to IMDB, Lukas Haas has a role in the film as well (and he’s a long-time buddy with DiCaprio too). Some on the Playlist team says it looks like Haas is the man being dragged away – his ears are the potential giveaway [ed. sure looks like it with this side-to-side comparison]. The film also co-stars Ellen Page, Marion Cotillard, Ken Watanabe, Michael Caine and Tom Hardy.
“Inception” arrives in theaters summer 2010.
Hmmm… Teasers… teasers… teasers… I need to see more! Now!
I'm a physical F/X technician and that fight sequence is rather impressive. Looks as if they constructed a gimbal which not only rotates left to right but tilts at the same time. Very impressive and well executed gag.
What's funny is before I knew Lukas Haas was in this, I thought the guy getting dragged away was him. I have a feeling it's Haas. I don't think it's DiCaprio that's figthing Levitt either. If it is him, the Stunt Double looks nothing like Leo.
The first fight scene looks to be a different scene/moment in time, but by the feeling of the film nothing can be trusted.
I thought it was confirmed a while back that Watanabe was the main villain, but that might be a rumor/false.
The main plot has something to do with DiCaprio's character being blackmailed, so Gordon-Levitt might play the blackmailer, and Watanabe might play the person his information would be valuable too.
But,
One, the guy Gordon-Levitt is fighting' definitely isn't DiCaprio. In the split second you see his face 00:41. Definitely not.
And Gordon-Levitt appears to win that fight, being that he has a hold on something, and Guy 2 is falling into the unknown.
Who knows.
I'm actually excited for a Summer blockbuster, which is different.
That's weird. It is a black guy fighting Levitt (who is dressed in a vest)in the first scenes of the hallway fight…then it cuts to Leo?? coming out of water in slo mo…and then goes back to the hallway fight, where Levitt (dressed the same) is fighting a white guy (who is dressed the same as the black guy was before. Uh, did they not think we would be able to tell, or are stunt people just hard to come by these days?
Umm…okay.
This doesn't really tease me as much as underwhelm me. A Matrix fight scene and the soundtrack from the Dark Knight?
The movie still sounds pretty crazy in a good way though. Nolan has carte blanche to do the wildest thing imaginable and it sounds like he's going to take advantage.
^ You don't deserve to see movies, you obviously have no taste.
