For years now, each and every project starring Adèle Exarchopoulos is worth getting excited about. And that’s saying something, considering she’s still only 29 years old. However, it’s been a decade since “Blue is the Warmest Color,” and since then, the actress has continued to collect a number of great performances in truly interesting and sometimes wonderful films. Her next feature, “The Five Devils,” likely continues that trend.
In a new teaser (and we must emphasize the word “teaser”) for “The Five Devils,” we only get to see 15 seconds of footage. However, there’s a ton of imagery to digest in such a short amount of time. Though the footage doesn’t really explain anything in way of plot, “The Five Devils” follows the story of a young girl with the ability to replicate scents, and she uses that ability to help uncover secrets about her life, her family, and her community.
“The Five Devils” comes from filmmaker Léa Mysius. The writer-director is probably best known for her breakout debut film, “Ava,” which was released in 2017. Her new film stars Adèle Exarchopoulos, Swala Emati, Moustapha Mbengue, Daphne Patakia, and Sally Dramé.

We were lucky enough to see the film debut at last year’s Cannes. And in our review, we said that Mysius’ film “captivates from its very first seconds” and “raises the bar in terms of sophistication and style.”
“The Five Devils” is set to arrive in select theaters on March 24. You can watch the quick teaser below.
Here’s the synopsis:
Vicky, a strange and solitary little girl, has a magical gift: she can reproduce any scent she likes, and collects them in a series of carefully labeled jars. She has secretly captured the scent of Joanne, her mother for whom she nurtures a wild, excessive love. When her father’s sister Julia bursts into their life, Vicky reproduces her smell and is transported into dark and archaic memories which lead her to uncover the secrets of her village, her family and her own existence.
