‘Black Adam’ Trailer: Dwayne Johnson Upends The DC Universe’s Hierarchy Of Power [Comic-Con]

While Dwayne Johnson is now a huge star dipping his toes into established franchises like “G.I. Joe” and “Fast & Furious,” he had his own superhero odyssey, first landing the role of DC Comics anti-hero/villain Black Adam in an early incarnation of a “Shazam!” movie all the way back in 2007. It’s now 2022, and Johnson has completed filming his own film pic, “Black Adam,” helmed by filmmaker Jaume Collet-Serra, who he previously worked alongside on the Disney film “Jungle Cruise.”

The superhero project, as expected, was being promoted at San Diego Comic-Con, and we got a new look at “Black Adam” with a new trailer.

“Black Adam” will introduce audiences to another team of DC heroes with The Justice Society, a team that includes Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone. We’ve already seen footage of these folks in action, and certainly gives the film some scope that other DC films don’t always have.

The star has been teasing various crossovers, but it remains to be seen if he’ll ultimately cross paths with ultra-powered heroes like Shazam! and Superman anytime soon; audiences will likely determine Johnson’s future in the DCEU.

Below is the official synopsis of “Black Adam” from the studio:

Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the Egyptian gods—and imprisoned just as quickly—Black Adam is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.

“Black Adam” is the next big DC Comics film to make its way to the big screen with a release date of October 21, 2022. Entertainment Weekly and Den of Geek have also posted some new stills from the DC film that you can see below. Watch the new trailer below.
