Got a Tip?

‘Gangs Of London’ Trailer: The Acclaimed Crime Drama Returns For An Explosive Second Season Later This Year

“What does it feel like to be a king?,” asks the latest trailer for season two of Sky’s sprawling crime series “Gangs of London.” The show’s first season followed the Wallace crime family in the aftermath of the assassination of Finn (Colm Meaney), their leader and patriarch. With Finn dead, his son Sean (Joe Cole) is thrust into his father’s role, having to navigate the perilous halls of leadership. This journey places Sean at odds with London’s other crime groups, including the Kurdish Freedom Fighters and the Pakistani Drug Cartel, and even wondering if anyone in the Wallace inner circle is a traitor (hint: not only is there a traitor, but he becomes a major player in the show).

Season two will see the return of Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù, Paapa Essiedu, Lucian Msamati, Michelle Fairley, Orli Shuka, Pippa Bennett-Warner, Brian Vernel, Narges Rashidi, Asif Raza, and Valene Kane.

Here’s the season two synopsis:

When the head of London’s most powerful crime family is assassinated, the power vacuum leads to an epic struggle between international gangs. Since the collapse of the Wallace Dumani empire, order is lacking and the energy and chaos of a gold rush threatens the city with gangland anarchy. As The Investors step in, a new gang leader is tasked with restoring the status quo.

Having become one of Sky Atlantic’s biggest successes in recent years, season two promises to bring more “twists, turns, and exhilarating, cinematic action sequences.” “Gangs of London,” which has been favorably compared to “Peaky Blinders,” was created by Welsh filmmaker Gareth Evans. Evans made his breakthrough nearly a decade ago with the action thriller “The Raid” (2011) (released as “The Raid: Redemption” in the US). The film and its sequel, “The Raid 2” (2014), are remembered for their choreography, which showcases the Indonesian martial art of Pencak silat. U.S. audiences will be able to watch “Gangs of London” via AMC+, which also houses “The Walking Dead” and “Better Call Saul.”

While there’s no release date for the show stateside yet, just “coming later this year,” the first trailer has been released which you can watch below.
