‘Obi-Wan’: John Williams To Work On The Theme For New ‘Star Wars’ Series

When you think of the classic movie themes, you can’t help but think of John Williams. He’s a legendary film composer who has worked on a number of iconic scores and themes for films. And perhaps his most famous is the work he did on “Star Wars.” Well, it appears the composer is ready to come back to the galaxy far, far away in the new series “Obi-Wan.”

According to Variety, John Williams is set to do the theme for “Obi-Wan,” when it debuts on Disney+ in May. It’s not entirely clear if Williams is working to repurpose some of his music from the “Star Wars” films previously released or if he’s composing a brand-new bit of music for the show, but either way, the composer is putting his name on part of “Obi-Wan,” and that’s likely enough to get fans super excited.

“Obi-Wan” is set in the years between when the Prequel Trilogy ended and “A New Hope” began, and it stars Ewan McGregor as the title Jedi. Deborah Chow is on board as the director of the series.

In other “Star Wars” music news, it appears we’ve learned who the composer for yet another Disney+ series is going to be, with the report that the Oscar-nominated Nicholas Britell is on board to work on the music for “Andor,” via Film Music Reporter. Britell is probably best known for his work with filmmaker Barry Jenkins on projects such as “Moonlight,” “If Beale Street Could Talk,” and “Underground Railroad.” He’s currently waiting to see if he wins an Oscar for his nominated score for “Don’t Look Up.”

“Andor” doesn’t yet have a release date, but “Obi-Wan” is next up for Disney+, debuting on May 25.
