Got a Tip?

‘The Boys: Diabolical’ Teaser: Looney Tunes Meets R-Rated Superheroes In The First Look At The Animated Spinoff

Watching the first two seasons of “The Boys,” who didn’t sit back and imagine a world where we got an animated anthology series including a little Looney Tunes-esque adventure where a little baby shoots lasers and annihilates the police? We were all thinking it, right? Well, Amazon sure hopes so, as the first teaser for “The Boys: Diabolical” sure does tickle that very particular itch.

As mentioned, the short little teaser for “The Boys: Diabolical” feels Looney Tunes but from someone’s nightmare. And that’s a good thing! “Diabolical” is an anthology series that allows for various filmmakers to tell short stories set in the R-rated superhero universe of “The Boys” but told in lovely animation. So, if this teaser is just the tip of the iceberg, it looks like “Diabolical” is going to be well…diabolical.

The world of “The Boys” is a place where superheroes exist, but they’re all controlled by a major corporation. Oh yeah, and the super “heroes” are mostly self-obsessed assholes always looking for more fame and money. They’re not the Avengers, that’s for sure. So, just with that set-up, there are plenty of places where an anthology series can go.

“Diabolical” has an all-star list of creators including Awkwafina, Garth Ennis, Eliot Glazer and Ilana Glazer, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, Simon Racioppa, Justin Roiland and Ben Bayouth, Andy Samberg, and Aisha Tyler

All of the little 12 to 14-minute episodes of “Diabolical” will debut on Amazon Prime Video on March 4. Season 3 of “The Boys” isn’t scheduled to arrive until June, so this looks to be a bit of an appetizer to prep for the full meal later this year.
